Biography

Corey E. Baker is an Assistant Professor in the Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Thomas Lord Department of Computer Science at the University of Southern California. He completed his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering at the University of Florida under the supervision of Professor Janise McNair. Prior to joining USC, he served as an Application Framework Engineer at Apple Inc., working on medical research frameworks such as CareKit and ResearchKit. In 2019, he received the University of Kentucky Inclusive Excellence Award for his contributions to creating a diverse campus program for graduate students in Computer Science and Engineering. He has been recognized by NBC News and Spectrum News for his work in the field. His research focuses on network reconnaissance, particularly in opportunistic networking scenarios to enhance remote patient monitoring and data authenticity, especially in resource-deprived environments. As the Director of the Network Reconnaissance Lab (NetRecon), he investigates solutions that leverage opportunistic communication to improve access to critical information in areas with poor connectivity, impacting communities adversely affected by natural disasters and other challenges.
