Biography

Corey Harper is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Heinz School of Information Systems and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University. He directs the Future Mobility Systems Lab, where his research focuses on applying modeling and simulation tools, such as agent-based and regional traffic models, alongside multi-source data analytics. His work assesses equity, environmental concerns, congestion, and policy implications of emerging technologies within transportation systems. Techniques employed in his research include cost-benefit analysis and machine learning, probing questions regarding the impact of rainfall on transportation networks and the effects of automated vehicles on urban parking revenues. Harper was honored with the Elsevier ATLAS Paper Award for his contributions to understanding equity impacts of automation and has been recognized as a Young Member of the Transportation Research Board Standing Committee on Vehicle-Highway Automation. He has also served as a consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton, addressing technical policy issues related to cyber-physical systems, particularly in support of the United States Department of Transportation regarding the integration of connected and automated vehicles.
