Biography

Corien Bary is a full professor at Radboud University, specializing in Semantics and Philosophy of Language. Her research combines insights and techniques from a range of disciplines, focusing on the relationship between semantics and pragmatics, and the philosophy of language. She has been awarded an ERC Starting Grant for her project on the perspective of language, spanning classical scholarship, computational linguistics, experimental linguistics, and narratology. Currently, she is leading an NWO-funded project investigating the potential of facial electromyography (fEMG) to understand communication. Her academic interests include commitment in communication, narrative, indexicality, evidentiality, speech attitude reports, tense, aspect, and performativity, with a special emphasis on Ancient Greek linguistics and digital humanities.
