Biography

Corine Labridy is an Assistant Professor in Francophone, Italian & Germanic Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research interests focus on Caribbean literatures and cultures, French expression, Afro-diasporic cultural studies in Metropolitan France, postcolonialism/decolonialism, and utopian/dystopian studies. Additionally, she serves as managing editor for 'La Caricature, 1830–1835,' a bilingual catalogue raisonné of a satirical journal's complete lithographs, contributing to reputable publications like Public Books and Small Axe: CLR James Journal. Corine's current book project explores the work of black women stand-up comedians and how their routines expand the boundaries of national humor in France. She teaches courses such as 'Birthplace Tout-Monde: Intro Caribbean Literature Thought,' 'On ne nait pas femme noire, le devient,' and 'Intro Haitian Literature.'
