Professor Corinna R. Hess holds a Professorship in Bioinorganic Chemistry at the Technical University of Munich. Her research focuses on inorganic and bioinorganic chemistry, particularly in coordination chemistry and the development of bio-inspired inorganic catalysts for multi-electron reactions, sustainable chemistry processes, and renewable energy solutions. After completing her undergraduate degree in Chemistry at the University of Chicago, where she worked in the laboratory of Professor Gregory Hillhouse, she pursued her PhD in bioinorganic chemistry under the supervision of Professor Harry Gray at the California Institute of Technology. She held postdoctoral positions at the University of California, Berkeley, and the Max Planck Institute for Bioinorganic Chemistry before joining the Chemistry Department at Durham University in 2010. In 2014, she was appointed as an assistant professor at TUM. Professor Hess has received several awards, including the Durham Energy Institute Mid-Career Fellow in 2013 and the NIH Ruth Kirschstein Research Fellowship from 2003 to 2006.
