Biography

Corinna Oschatz is an Assistant Professor at the Amsterdam School of Communication Research (ASCoR) at the University of Amsterdam. She holds a PhD in Communication Science from the University of Mainz, completed in 2016, and has held postdoctoral positions at the University of Landau and Cornell University. Her primary research interests lie in negative campaigning, narrative persuasion, media use, and political journalism. Oschatz explores how journalists' narratives shape public opinion and the role of media in the political knowledge acquisition process. She is recognized for her work on the persuasive effects of negative campaigning and the acceptance of uncivil political discourse among citizens. Currently, she is involved in several research projects funded by the German Research Foundation and the Dutch Ministry of Education, focusing on the determinants influencing the use of negative campaigning and the social norms surrounding it. In addition, she teaches courses on citizens' public opinion, psychology of political communication, and supervises master's and PhD students in their research projects.
