Dr. Corinne Packard

Biography

Corinne Packard is a Professor at the University of Southern California in the Mork Family Department of Chemical Engineering & Materials Science. She joined USC after progressing through the ranks at the Colorado School of Mines, where she held a joint appointment at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Packard earned both her Bachelor's and Doctoral degrees in Materials Science & Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), focusing on nanoscale deformation in materials. Her post-doctoral studies also took place at MIT, where she worked in the optoelectronics and mechanics laboratory. Her research addresses materials sustainability issues in solar energy, electronics, and aerospace, utilizing fundamental and applied mechanics to enhance the performance of brittle materials under extreme conditions. She has a robust portfolio of over 60 archival publications and has been awarded multiple recognitions, including the AIME Robert Lansing Hardy Award and the NSF Faculty Early Career Development Award. Packard is also committed to outreach efforts for women and disabled children in STEM, and she is dedicated to cultivating highly trained professionals for careers in leadership within industry and academia.
