Dr. Cornelius Groenewald

Biography

Cornelius Botha Groenewald is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine. He is a director of Pediatric Anesthesiology Research and conducts clinical research focused on child health, pediatric pain, sleep deficiency, and opioid use behaviors. His research is primarily funded by the National Institutes of Health and the International Association for the Study of Pain. He has published his work in notable journals such as JAMA Pediatrics and JAMA Psychiatry. Groenewald holds national leadership positions in the American Pain Society and has been involved in significant editorial roles. His clinical focus is on anesthesia for pediatric patients. He completed his medical education at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Stellenbosch University in South Africa, and has further training from Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science and Seattle Children's Hospital.
