Corrine Voils is a Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Her research program is focused on developing and testing behavioral interventions aimed at reducing cardiovascular disease risk. These interventions are delivered in person, by telephone, or via video, specifically targeting patients and their partners. Relevant populations include individuals with obesity, type 2 diabetes, and dyslipidemia. Currently, Voils is involved in several funded studies that emphasize identifying effective behavioral strategies for promoting long-term weight loss. One ongoing R01 study compares participant-only interventions with partner-assisted approaches for sustaining long-term weight loss, applying dyadic interventions that train couples in communication skills to enhance joint problem-solving regarding weight-related behaviors. She is also conducting research under a UG3/UH3 grant to evaluate the individual and combined effects of small, variable incentives on weekly dietary self-monitoring and interim weight loss. Additionally, Voils is validating a self-report measure for adherence to both oral and injectable diabetes medications.
