Biography

Corsin Battaglia is an accomplished researcher focused on the sustainable development of next-generation lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries. He is an Adjunct Professor of Electrical Engineering at ETH Zurich, and a key figure at Empa, where he leads the Materials Energy Conversion laboratory. His work has significantly contributed to the field of electrochemical conversion of CO2 into synthetic fuels. Corsin received his PhD in Physics from Université de Neuchâtel, followed by postdoctoral research positions at EPFL and the University of California Berkeley. He has co-authored approximately 200 peer-reviewed publications and is a recognized innovator with 8 patent applications. Corsin plays a prominent role in several scientific organizations, including serving as the president of the Swiss Battery Association iBAT and being a member of the Alistore European Research Institute, where he contributes to the European battery initiative Battery2030. He has also been involved in various committees aimed at advancing research in catalysis and battery technology.
