Cory Hinds is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University. He earned his PhD in Business Administration with a focus on Accounting from the University of Iowa in 2023, having also completed his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Accounting at Brigham Young University. Prior to his academic career, Cory worked as an auditor for Ernst & Young in New York City. His research primarily revolves around the behavioral aspects of accounting, particularly how individuals and institutions make decisions based on financial disclosures in capital markets. He actively investigates the influences on retail and professional investors' information choices and aims to address social issues that impact the welfare of underserved investor groups. His work has appeared in leading academic publications such as the Accounting Review. In addition to his research, Cory is also an instructor for various accounting courses, including the Introduction to Financial Accounting course at Queen’s University. Outside of academia, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and watching sports.
