Biography

Cory Liu is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Texas School of Law, specializing in civil rights law, constitutional law, and administrative law. He has a passionate commitment to mentoring first-generation law students and aims to make the legal profession more inclusive. Liu was born and raised in Austin, Texas, the son of immigrants from China, and has lived through significant historical events including the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution. His scholarship notably includes advocacy for the rights of Asian Americans and equal educational opportunities. Liu co-authored an amicus brief for the Supreme Court case Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard, which addressed the legality of racial classifications in admissions processes. Prior to his current role, Liu served as assistant general counsel to Texas Governor Greg Abbott and worked as a law clerk for Judge Andrew Oldham of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and Judge Danny Boggs of the Sixth Circuit. In law school, he was Editor-in-Chief of the Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy, and he graduated from Harvard Law School and the University of Chicago.
