Dr. Cosima Möller

Biography

Cosima Möller is a full professor of Civil Law and Roman Law at Freie Universität Berlin, specializing in the fields of Civil Law, Roman Law, and European legal history. Born in 1962 in Marburg, she acquired her Abitur in 1979 and studied law at the universities of Göttingen and Freiburg. She completed her doctoral dissertation, analyzing freedom and protection in labor law, in 1989 at the Institute for Roman and Common Law under Professor Okko Behrends. From 1990 to 1996, she served as a research assistant before receiving her habilitation in 2000, which granted her the right to teach Roman Law, Civil Law, and modern private law history. Möller has held various academic leadership positions at Freie Universität Berlin, including serving on the Academic Senate and as the Dean. Her research interests include the history of Roman law, consumer protection law, and the relationship between Roman law and modern legal systems. Additionally, Möller has contributed significantly to legal scholarship through numerous publications and editorial projects, emphasizing her expertise in Roman law and its contemporary relevance.
