Professor Cosmina Dorobantu is a leading expert in AI public policy with a notable career that includes shaping Google’s business strategy in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. She co-founded Aurora Energy Research, Europe’s largest dedicated power analytics provider, and alongside Professor Helen Margetts, she co-founded and co-directed the world's largest program focused on AI in the public sector at the Alan Turing Institute. The research conducted under her leadership has significantly influenced policymaking in the Global South, helping to create innovative AI models to enhance productivity in the public sector and inform critical legislation such as the Online Safety Act. In March 2025, she was awarded the inaugural AI Robotics Research Community Award for her contributions to AI research in the UK. Her influence extends through various advisory roles, including serving on the Mayor of London’s Data Advisory Board and advising the Bank of England and the Financial Conduct Authority on AI challenges in financial services. With many other strategic contributions, she remains a pivotal figure at the intersection of technology and society.
