Dr. Costas Demonacos

Biography

Costas Demonacos graduated as a pharmacist in 1983 from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He obtained his PhD in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry in 1994 from the National Kapodistrian University of Athens. He has developed experience across a wide spectrum of pharmaceutical sciences, including roles as a community hospital pharmacist and a quality control scientist within the pharmaceutical industry. His research interests focus on exploiting endoplasmic reticulum stress and the unfolded protein response in cancer immunotherapy, as well as the mechanisms of cell cycle regulation and the role of reactive oxygen species in cancer cell evasion from immunosurveillance. He is involved in novel biological networks related to transcriptional co-factors and the regulation of apoptosis and malignant transformation. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with several prominent institutions and has contributed to various educational and research initiatives. His expertise spans areas such as molecular pharmacology, pharmacology, and cell signaling.
