Biography

Costas Meghir is the Douglas Warner III Professor of Economics at Yale University. He obtained his Ph.D. from Manchester University and has been recognized as a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a Fellow of the Econometric Society, and a Fellow of the British Academy. His research is primarily focused on informal labor markets, labor supply welfare programs, economics of family, marriage markets, and intrahousehold allocation of resources, as well as human capital and early childhood development (ECD). He is involved in designing and testing ECD interventions through randomized controlled trials in developing countries, aimed at improving child outcomes and mitigating intergenerational poverty. Over the course of his career, he has received several prestigious awards, including the Ragnar Frisch medal from the Econometric Society in 2000 and the Bodosakis Foundation prize in 1997. Additionally, he serves as a co-editor for Econometrica and is the joint managing editor of the Economic Journal.
