Courtney Davis is a medical political sociologist with broad research interests at the intersections of science, technology, policy, business regulation, and public health. She conducts empirically-based, international comparative research that investigates the socio-political, economic, cultural, and scientific factors underlying regulatory trends. Her research specifically explores the implications of current techno-scientific standards on public, patient, and worker health, focusing particularly on pharmaceuticals and occupational health and safety. Currently, Courtney is involved in investigating the relationship between regulatory standards and pharmaceutical marketing with respect to the evidential needs of health technology assessment bodies within healthcare systems. This project is part of a two-year ESRC Mid-Career Development Fellowship. She collaborates on various research projects with colleagues from the Institute of Cancer Policy at King's College London, the University of Southampton’s Business School, and the School of Population and Public Health at the University of British Columbia.
