Dr. Courtney Gibson

Biography

Courtney Elizabeth Gibson is an Associate Professor of Surgery at Yale School of Medicine, specializing in endocrine surgery. Her clinical interests include minimally invasive procedures for conditions affecting the thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands. Dr. Gibson not only performs complex surgeries but also plays a crucial role as the Associate Clerkship Director for the General Surgery Clerkship and as the Fellowship Director of the Endocrine Surgery Fellowship Program. Her research focuses on outcomes in minimally invasive endocrine surgery, including thyroidectomy and parathyroidectomy, as well as intraoperative laryngeal nerve monitoring. Dr. Gibson received her MD from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and completed her residency at Saint Barnabas Medical Center. She has authored numerous publications and actively contributes to the academic community through teaching and mentoring. Dr. Gibson's approach to patient care is deeply informed by her personal experience as a cancer survivor, providing her patients with empathy and understanding.
