Biography

Craig M. Crews is the John C. Malone Professor of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology at Yale University, holding joint appointments in Chemistry and Pharmacology. He earned his B.A. in Chemistry from the University of Virginia and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Harvard University. He has been a faculty member at Yale since 1995, where his research focuses on developing novel reagents and methodologies to explore cell biology. Crews pioneered the use of small molecules to control intracellular processes and founded Proteolix, Inc., a biotech company that developed Kyprolis™, a proteasome inhibitor for treating multiple myeloma, which received FDA approval. He has received numerous awards, including the CURE Entrepreneur of the Year Award and the Yale Cancer Center Translational Research Prize. His research contributions have garnered significant recognition in the academic community, including serving on the editorial board of Cell Chemical Biology. Crews's laboratory continues to innovate in the field of proteasome biology and its implications for drug development in cancer and other diseases.
