Dr. Craig Dunbar

Biography

Craig Dunbar is a Professor Emeritus at the Ivey Business School, University of Western Ontario, where he has been a faculty member since July 1997. Previously, he taught at the Katz Graduate School of Business, University of Pittsburgh from 1992 to 1997. He held several administrative roles at Ivey, including Associate Dean for Faculty Development and Research from 2004 to 2009. Dunbar has served on various committees within the university, including a term as an elected member of the Western Joint Pension Board from 2010 to 2013 and as a University Senator from 2007 to 2011. His research interests include investment banking, capital raising, financial contract choice, and corporate social responsibility, with work published in reputable journals such as the Journal of Financial Economics and the Journal of Corporate Finance. He has taught a range of courses, including Financial Institutions Management, Investment Management, and Corporate Finance, at both undergraduate and PhD levels. Dunbar continues to engage in executive development programs at Ivey, leveraging his deep expertise in finance education. He earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (Honours) in Civil Engineering from the University of Toronto in 1984, followed by a Master of Science in Technology and Policy from MIT in 1986, and a Ph.D. in Finance from the Simon School of Business, University of Rochester from 1988 to 1992.
