After completing his PhD at the University of New South Wales in 1999, Craig Harrison joined Prince Henry’s Institute in Melbourne. He underwent postdoctoral training at the Salk Institute for Biological Sciences in La Jolla, California, under the supervision of Professor Wylie Vale as an NHMRC CJ Martin Training Fellow. Upon returning to Australia, he established the Growth Factor Signalling Laboratory at Prince Henry’s Institute, which later became Hudson Institute. In 2016, he moved his lab to the Department of Physiology at Monash University. His research primarily focuses on the mechanisms underlying the synthesis and activation of TGF-β proteins, as well as the roles that growth factors play in skeletal muscle and the female reproductive system. Craig has served as a member of the ESA Council, acting as treasurer from 2014 to 2017. He is actively involved in supervising students and connects his work with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. His collaborative research has included various national and international projects, focusing on fertility treatments, muscle wasting, and other significant health concerns.
