Biography

Craig Larkin is a Reader in Middle East Politics and Peace & Conflict Studies at King’s College London, where he also serves as the Director of the Centre for the Study of Divided Societies (CSDS). His research interests encompass Conflict Politics and Security, particularly focusing on Memory, transitional justice, and the dynamics of urban spaces in the contemporary Middle East. He has worked as a Research Fellow at the Department of Politics, University of Exeter, engaging in research related to 'Conflict in Cities and the Contested State'. Craig holds a PhD in Middle East Studies from the University of Exeter (Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies) as well as an MA in Criminology and Criminal Justice and a BA(Hons) in Law and Politics from Queen’s University Belfast. He studied Arabic at Damascus University and has extensive experience in community development projects in Lebanon, Jordan, and Iraq. Craig is an author and co-author of several works examining issues of memory, violence, and urban politics, including titles published by Routledge and Hurst/Oxford University Press. He is involved in teaching and PhD supervision related to his research areas.
