Biography

Dr. Miller received his Bachelor of Engineering with Honours and Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Auckland, New Zealand. He then earned his PhD in Engineering Science from the University of Western Ontario, Canada, in 1996. His early career included work as a Research Assistant at the University of Strathclyde, Scotland, and a Research Fellow in England, where he focused on assessing wind speeds and developing models related to tropical and extra-tropical cyclones while employed at Risk Management Solutions in London. Dr. Miller has been with the University of Western Ontario since 2003, taking on a role as Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He also manages the Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel Laboratory. He is an active member of several professional societies including the American Meteorological Society and the Royal Meteorological Society. His research interests encompass various aspects of wind field modeling and its applications in engineering and meteorology, marking significant contributions to understanding design wind speeds and the effects of surface roughness and topography on wind behaviors.
