Dr. Craig Pearl

Biography

Craig Pearl is an Associate Professor at UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry, specializing in Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery. He completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) at the University of the Witwatersrand College of Medicine in 2005, graduating cum laude, and followed this with a Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) in Maxillofacial Oral Surgery, securing distinction in 2006. Dr. Pearl’s accomplishments include receiving the South African Society of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgeons Gold Medal for outstanding results in his fellowship examinations and the Michael Janie Miller Registrar Prize for surgical specialties at the University of the Witwatersrand. He is passionate about trauma patient care and began his career as a qualified firefighter in 1993. Dr. Pearl has been involved in significant missions, including a rescue operation in Phuket, Thailand, after the tsunami in 2004. He is also a certified Advanced Trauma Life Support instructor. His research interests encompass trauma, orofacial pain, TMJ disorders, headache management, and implantology, where he has successfully implemented immediate loading protocols in cases involving fully edentulous patients. Dr. Pearl completed a fellowship at the Headache Clinic in South Africa in 2015, enhancing his expertise in headache management.
