Dr. Cristelle Audet

Biography

Cristelle Audet is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa. She focuses on career development, ethics, and practical training in counseling. As a past president of the Social Justice Chapter of the Canadian Counselling Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), she has been involved with the CCPA’s Ethics Committee since 2010 and is interested in promoting counseling and psychotherapy practices informed by social justice values. Professor Audet authored a chapter in the social justice Handbook of Counseling and Psychotherapy in Canada and is co-editor of Social Justice Counseling: Discourse in Practice. Her research emphasizes a social justice perspective in counseling, aiming to foreground under-represented voices. A key area of her inquiry pertains to how therapist self-disclosure influences the therapeutic relationship from the client's perspective, focusing particularly on experiences of engaging in psychotherapy. She employs qualitative research methods to privilege participants' voices, unveiling culturally sensitive counseling practices.
