Biography

Cristian Popescu received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Ohio State University in 1996, under the supervision of Karl Rubin. He held post-doctoral positions at the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute and the University of Texas at Austin for four years, conducting research under the supervision of Ken Ribet and John Tate. He has held faculty positions at Johns Hopkins University from 2000 to 2003 and at the University of California, San Diego since 2003. Popescu is an expert in a broad range of topics related to algebraic number theory and arithmetic geometry, particularly in Iwasawa Theory, special values of global p-adic L-functions, K-theory, étale cohomology, and Drinfeld modules.
