Dr. Cristian Vaccari

Biography

Cristian Vaccari is a Professor of Future Governance, Public Policy, and Technology at the School of Social and Political Science. His research focuses on political communication, particularly from a comparative perspective, with a special emphasis on digital media. Vaccari investigates how political parties and campaign organizations engage with citizens through digital platforms, exploring how these interactions shape meanings, identities, and the dynamics of power. Previously, he held the position of Professor of Political Communication at the School of Social Sciences and Humanities at Loughborough University, where he also served as the Director of the Centre for Research in Communication and Culture. Vaccari has experience teaching at esteemed institutions such as Royal Holloway, University of London, and the University of Bologna. He has also served as the editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Press/Politics and held leadership roles within the American Political Science Association. His academic mentorship includes supervising several PhD projects related to diverse topics in political communication.
