Biography

Since 2019, Cristiana Cianitto has been an Associate Professor of Canon Law and Comparative Religion Law at the University of Milan, Department of Legal Sciences 'Cesare Beccaria', where she also coordinates the research center 'Religious Minorities and Belief Rights in Contemporary Legal Systems'. She coordinates the ATLAS project on mapping and measuring the rights of religious minorities in Europe. A founding member and Secretary General of ICLARS (International Consortium for Law and Religion Studies), she has been a member of the editorial team for volume 1 of the 'Quaderni di diritto e politica ecclesiastica' since 2011. Her main research areas explore the relationships between law and religion, focusing particularly on hate speech and fundamental rights, as well as the rights of religious minorities in Italy and Europe, without neglecting the dimension of confessional rights, including Canon Law, Anglican Canon Law, Jewish Law, Islamic Law, and Sikh Law.
