Biography

Cristiano Galbiati is a professor of physics at Princeton University, where he has been a faculty member in the Physics Department since 1999. He graduated from the University of Milan and the Naval Academy of Leghorn. His research interests focus on solar supernova neutrinos, dark matter, double beta decay, nucleon decay, low-counting experiments, radioactive backgrounds, and ultra-high energy cosmic ray neutrinos. He has served on scientific committees such as the Fermilab Long Baseline Neutrino Committee and the Fermilab Physics Advisory Committee. Galbiati has been a Fellow of the American Physical Society and has acted as a referee for the U.S. National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Energy. He holds patents for novel technologies, including a cryogenic distillation column for isotopic separation and a system for onboard ammonia storage and hydrogen production with minimal carbon and nitrogen oxide emissions. During the COVID-19 emergency, he co-led the development of the Mechanical Ventilator Milano in collaboration with Professor Art McDonald from Queen's University, which received full approval for production in the U.S., Canada, and the EU.
