Biography

Cristina Catallo is an Associate Professor and Graduate Program Director at the Daphne Cockwell School of Nursing at Toronto Metropolitan University. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from McMaster University (2001) and a PhD in Nursing (2009). Her postdoctoral fellowship was with the European Observatory on Health Systems Policies at the World Health Organization, where she focused on Program Policy Decision-Making within the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at McMaster University. With a rich background in public health and health policy, Dr. Catallo has served as a senior nursing consultant, providing public health consultations to various Ontario ministries. Her research aims to enhance the use of knowledge brokering practices in health care organizations to better inform health policymakers and decision makers. Employing a variety of quantitative and qualitative methods, including systematic scoping reviews and network analysis, she seeks to bridge the gap between available evidence and practical application in health policy. In addition to her research, Dr. Catallo teaches in both undergraduate and graduate programs at the nursing school and holds cross-appointments in several faculties at Toronto Metropolitan University, including Policy Studies and Health Services and Management. She actively participates as a full member of the Yeates School of Graduate Studies, and her teaching interests include Health Policy, Knowledge Translation, and research methods.
