Biography

G. Cristina Mora is a Chancellor's Professor in the Sociology Department at the University of California, Berkeley. Her award-winning research focuses on issues such as racial and ethnic categorization, racial politics, and immigration. She earned her B.A. in Sociology from UC Berkeley in 2003 and completed her PhD in Sociology at Princeton University in 2009. Currently, she is working on a book titled 'Normalizing Inequality: Californians Make Sense of the Growing Divide,' which examines the rise of income and racial inequality in California and efforts towards diversity and inclusion. In 2023, Mora received a million-dollar federal grant from the Department of Education to establish the 'Latino Social Science Pipeline' initiative at UC Berkeley.
