Cristina Temenos is a Reader in Human Geography at the University of Manchester and a UKRI Future Leaders Fellow. She received her PhD in Urban Geography from Simon Fraser University. Her research focuses on health inequalities and the politics of access to care in urban settings across the globe. Cristina investigates policy mobilities, knowledge translation, drug treatment, public health, housing, economic austerity, environmental sustainability, transport, and climate change. Her analysis employs relational politics in public health and social reproduction within the contexts of both the global north and south. Current projects examine the impacts of post-2008 austerity measures on public health services amid intersecting health, economic, and social crises, particularly in Latin America and Europe. She actively engages in understanding how social movements influence drug policy through harm reduction, advocating for health and human rights in cities. Cristina co-leads the Poverty Deprivation initiative as part of the University of Manchester’s Health Inequalities Initiative and is a co-leader of the Cities, Politics, Economies Research Group. She has served on the editorial boards of renowned journals, including Environment & Planning C: Politics & Space and Geography Compass. Cristina has co-authored and edited significant works, including the book 'Moving Transition: Commoning Mobility for a Low Carbon Future,' and her scholarly contributions have been recognized in numerous international journals.
