Dr. Crystal MacKay is an Assistant Professor in the School of Rehabilitation Therapy at Queen's University. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from Queen’s University and both a Master of Health Science and a PhD from the University of Toronto. Dr. MacKay completed a CIHR-funded postdoctoral fellowship at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, University Health Network. Dr. MacKay aims to improve healthcare quality and optimize health, social participation, and overall quality of life for these populations. Current research endeavors include developing and evaluating innovative, patient-centered health interventions and examining patients' health experiences to inform improvements in the health system. Her methodological expertise encompasses a range of approaches in health services research, including qualitative research methods and implementation science. Dr. MacKay is also engaged in various research projects, such as evaluating a peer-led virtual intervention to promote physical activity among individuals with dysvascular amputation and co-designing a community-based physical activity intervention for those with lower limb amputations. Additionally, she explores the integration of technology in rehabilitation and is currently accepting graduate students.
