Biography

I am a Professor at the Department of Political Science and Director of the Azrieli Institute of Israel Studies at Concordia University. My research in Comparative Politics focuses on political parties and legislative politics in a variety of democratic settings such as Israel, Eastern Europe, and India. I am the founding Series Editor of the McGill-Queen’s-Azrieli Institute Series in Israel Studies and was the former English Co-Editor of the Canadian Journal of Political Science from 2006 to 2011. Currently, I am a member of the Editorial Board of the Israel Studies Journal and the Contemporary Review of the Middle East. I have won several research grants from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and other agencies. My international appointments include several visiting and guest professorships at institutions such as the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the Australian National University, O.P. Jindal Global University, and Martin-Luther-University, Halle-Wittenberg. My recent service contributions include chairing the Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada Post-Doctoral Fellowship Selection Committee, chairing the Azrieli Foundation International Post-Doctoral Fellowship Committee (Social Sciences), serving as Chair of the Department of Political Science, and being a member of the Board of Directors of the Association for Israel Studies. I currently serve as Vice-President of the Association for Israel Studies.
