Biography

Cuiying Jian is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at York University. Prior to joining York, she worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Jian earned her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta and holds both an M.S. in Mechatronics Engineering and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology. Her research focuses on carbon materials processing, multiscale modeling of colloidal systems, carbon-conversion chemistry, water and wastewater treatment, and organic solar cells. She has received several awards, including the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada Postdoctoral Fellowship from 2017 to 2019, the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-Financed Students Abroad in 2015, and the Alberta Innovates Doctoral Graduate Student Scholarship from 2013 to 2015.
