Biography

Curt Horvath is a Professor in the Department of Molecular Biosciences at Northwestern University. He obtained his Ph.D. from Northwestern University in 1992. His research focuses on cytokine signal transduction, gene regulation, and the human cellular responses to viral infections and cancer. Horvath's laboratory employs molecular and biochemical approaches to study mechanisms underlying cellular recognition and response to RNA viruses, including their evolution and immune evasion strategies. His work explores gene-specific and genome-wide mechanisms that control transcriptional responses in infected cells and neoplastic transformation. He has authored and co-authored several significant publications in highly regarded journals, contributing to our understanding of immune regulation and responses to viral challenges. As the President-Elect of the International Cytokine and Interferon Society in 2023, he is recognized for his leadership and expertise in the field.
