Biography

Curtis R. Pickering received his PhD in Cell Biology from the University of California, San Francisco, where he focused on the cell biology of early breast cancer. After completing his PhD, he became a TRIUMPH Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, working in the laboratory of Dr. Jeffrey Myers. His research focused on integrated genomic analyses of head and neck cancer, contributing to multiple Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) projects. In 2022, he joined the faculty of the Yale School of Medicine as an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery. Dr. Pickering's lab investigates translational genomics to improve patient care outcomes for head and neck cancer patients. His ongoing studies involve the search for prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic approaches in oral premalignancy and oral cancer.
