Biography

Cynthia Austin is a board-certified pediatric neuropsychologist at the University of Texas at Austin, specializing in the care of children and adolescents with traumatic brain injuries. She oversees the Traumatic Brain Injury/Concussion Clinic and the Pediatric Neuropsychology Clinic at UT Health Austin, where she conducts targeted neuropsychological screenings and develops individualized treatment plans for various medical conditions that affect brain function. Cynthia completed her doctorate in school psychology and a master’s program in evaluation at the University of Texas at Austin. She also completed an internship in pediatric neuropsychology at the University of Minnesota Medical School and a fellowship from the Kennedy Krieger Institute/Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Her research focuses on the parent experience and satisfaction with the neuropsychological assessment process, predictors of outcomes following traumatic brain injury, and family interventions for adjustment to moderate-to-severe traumatic brain injuries. As part of her work, she participates in a multisite study evaluating the Teen Online Problem Solving intervention for adolescents and their families dealing with traumatic acquired brain injuries.
