Professor Dr. Cynthia Cruickshank

Biography

Cynthia Cruickshank is a full professor in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Carleton University and serves as the Associate Dean for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in the Faculty of Engineering and Design. She holds a Bachelor of Science and a Ph.D. from Queen’s University. Professor Cruickshank specializes in the design and optimization of advanced building energy systems and has a strong research focus on high-performance buildings and energy-efficient insulation materials. Her work also includes innovative solutions such as solar-assisted heat pumps, solar absorption cooling technologies, and strategies for sensible and latent heat storage. Through her research, she aims to contribute to sustainable development and enhance energy conservation in building design. Additionally, Professor Cruickshank is actively involved in various projects at the Centre for Advanced Building Envelope Research, where she collaborates with students and fellow researchers to advance knowledge in the field of energy-efficient building technologies.
