Cyril Laplane graduated from the University of Lyon in 2012 with a Master's degree in Nanoscale Engineering. He moved to Geneva for his PhD in Applied Physics, where he developed solid-state quantum memories and studied light-based rare-earth ion doped solids for applications in quantum communication. In 2017, he joined the Quantum Material Application lab led by Thomas Volz, focusing on the optical sorting of nanodiamonds. His research has expanded to include using optical tweezers and microfluidic chips for studying various nanoparticles in wet environments and developing new optical trapping setups for vacuum levitodynamics studies. His expertise encompasses quantum light-matter interfaces, quantum information science, optomechanics, spectroscopy of optical centers in solids, cryogenics, lasers, and solid-state physics.
