Biography

Cyrus Beroukhim joined NYU Steinhardt as an Associate Professor in String Studies in 2013. A versatile musician, he has performed as a soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician in various prestigious venues across the globe. His impressive repertoire includes works by Bach, Vivaldi, and the renowned Stravinsky Violin Concerto, showcasing his skill and musicality. He has held prominent positions like concertmaster of the American Symphony Orchestra and performed with the New York City Ballet Orchestra. In 2007, he founded the Zukofsky Quartet, tackling contemporary compositions by both living and deceased composers, receiving praise for their innovative performances. Alongside his performance career, Dr. Beroukhim has also been involved in education, having taught at Columbia University and joining the faculty of SUNY Fredonia in 2010. He is dedicated to developing methods for overcoming technical challenges faced by instrumentalists. Currently, he is involved in directing a Doctor of Musical Arts program at NYU, focusing on string performance with flexible class structures that provide numerous performance opportunities under top artists.
