Biography

Cyrus Shahabi is a Professor of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, and Spatial Sciences at the University of Southern California's Viterbi School of Engineering, where he also serves as the chair of the Computer Science Department. He is the Director of the Integrated Media Systems Center (IMSC) and has contributed significantly to the fields of databases, spatial databases, multimedia databases, and geospatial information systems. He co-founded Geosemble Technologies, a USC spin-off focusing on predictive path-planning systems for cars, and has authored over one hundred research papers along with multiple patents in related fields. Dr. Shahabi holds a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Sharif University of Technology and both an M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from USC. His accolades include being named an IEEE Fellow and receiving the ACM Distinguished Scientist award, among others. He has been actively involved in various national engineering programs and has served as a faculty fellow with the Vietnam Education Foundation, showcasing his commitment to academic excellence and innovation in technology.
