Biography

Daanish Mustafa holds BA in Geography from Middlebury College, MA from University of Hawai'i Manoa, and PhD in Geography from University of Colorado. He has taught at George Mason University and the University of South Florida at St. Petersburg, finding an intellectual home in the Department of Geography at King's College London. He has received the School of Social Science and Public Policy's excellence in teaching award. His research has been supported by funding from the Belmont Forum, IDRC, DfID, NERC, the National Geographic Society, the Royal Geographical Society, and the British Academy. Daanish has contributed to climate change response strategies in Pakistan and authored the United Nations Development Programme's five-year flood response strategy for Pakistan. He has undertaken policy-related work with DfID, IOM, Stimson Centre, and USIP. His research interests include critical water resources geographies, environmental hazards, climate risk, and the intersection of development with critical geographies of violence and terror.
