Dace Dzenovska is an Associate Professor at the University of Oxford and a Migration Fellow at Kellogg College. She specializes in political anthropology with a focus on postsocialism, migration, and the dynamics of power and sovereignty, particularly in Eastern Europe. Dzenovska's scholarly work explores themes such as space, place, empire, capitalism, and nationalism through ethnographic research conducted primarily in Latvia and the UK. Her publication, 'School of Europeanness: Tolerance and Other Lessons in Political Liberalism,' examines the intersection of liberal virtues and societal transformation in Latvia amidst postsocialist changes. Currently, she leads a research project addressing the implications of places losing their defining qualities due to changing political and economic landscapes in Latvia, Armenia, Russia, and Ukraine. In addition, she is working on a documentary film that investigates the concept of emptiness in socio-political contexts, extending her exploration of how individuals navigate and represent their lived experiences in a rapidly transforming environment. Dzenovska has supervised multiple DPhil students whose research spans various aspects of migration and cultural transformations across Europe.
