Biography

Daehyeok Kim is an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Austin in the Department of Computer Science. He co-leads the UT Networked Systems Research Group and is a member of the Wireless Networking and Communications Group, focusing on 6G research at UT. Previously, he was a senior researcher at Microsoft Research in Redmond. Kim received his Ph.D. from the Computer Science Department at Carnegie Mellon University. His research interests encompass computer networks, operating systems, and distributed systems. Specifically, he aims to design innovative hardware and software systems to enhance the performance, efficiency, and resilience of cloud and edge data centers. His current projects include resource management for programmable cloud infrastructure, developing a robust cellular network infrastructure, and creating an end-to-end framework for network transport design and implementation. Additionally, he is exploring learning-directed operating system designs to improve system adaptability and performance.
