Biography

Dale O’Brien, MD, MPH, is an adjunct faculty member at Stanford University School of Medicine in the Oncology Division. He has extensive experience as a practicing physician for more than four decades, with a focus on vulnerable populations in under-resourced areas of Northern California. Dr. O’Brien graduated from the University of Missouri School of Medicine and underwent postgraduate training at Oregon Health & Science University and the University of California, San Francisco, as well as the University of California School of Public Health. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Preventive Medicine. Throughout his career, Dr. O'Brien has worked on various health initiatives, including the treatment of marginalized communities at the White Bird Clinic in Eugene, Oregon, and serving as the acting Health Officer for Shasta County Health Department in California. Additionally, he has held roles with the World Health Organization in Denmark. Dr. O'Brien has been actively involved in addressing cancer disparities through his role as Co-Principal Investigator for studies funded by the Stanford Cancer Institute and has contributed to various community health initiatives.
