Biography

Dale Pullin is the Robert H. Goddard Professor of Aeronautics at the California Institute of Technology, where he has held various positions since 1990. He received his B.Sc. from the University of Melbourne in 1966, followed by a B.E. from the University of Sydney in 1968 and a Ph.D. from Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London, in 1974. Dr. Pullin has been a key figure in computational theoretical fluid mechanics, focusing on vortex dynamics, compressible flow shock dynamics, turbulence, and large-eddy simulation of turbulent flows. His current active research areas include the development of large-eddy simulations for high-Reynolds number wall-bounded turbulent flows, particularly in bluff-body flows, shock-driven flows in fluids and solids, and the investigation of vortex nucleation in super fluids. He has been recognized for his contributions to the field and has an extensive academic background, having served as a Visiting Associate and a Professor at Caltech.
