Biography

Dale Sebastian, MBBS, MD, is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from St. John’s National Academy of Health Sciences in Bangalore, India, and completed his postgraduate training in Psychiatry at Yale University. Additionally, he pursued fellowship training in Administrative Community Psychiatry. His clinical academic career is centered on community mental health, particularly focusing on the care of individuals with chronic severe mental illnesses within long-term inpatient settings. His expertise encompasses treatment for psychotic and mood disorders, trauma, and personality disorders, emphasizing a strength-based, person-centered approach to psychiatric care. Dr. Sebastian is committed to education and mentorship, actively engaging in curriculum development and teaching within medical school, residency, and fellowship programs. His contributions to medical education in psychiatry have been recognized both regionally and nationally, receiving awards such as the Nancy C.A. Roeske Award for Excellence in Medical Student Education from the American Psychiatric Association.
