Biography

Dale Watson joined Penn State Harrisburg in Fall 2019 and has a rich background as a retired Colonel from the United States Army. He has served as an Army Aviator, flying Longbow Attack Helicopters, and held numerous leadership and staff positions, including tours in Iraq during Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom, as well as a tour in Bosnia supporting the Dayton Peace Accord. Dr. Watson earned his Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Connecticut in 2017 and currently teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in Leadership, Team Building, Leader Communication, Change Management, Organizational Development, Organizational Change, and Business & Society. His research interests focus on leadership, team dynamics, multi-team systems, and team adaptation, and he actively conducts research as part of larger grant-funded projects for the Department of Defense. His notable research topics include understanding dynamic team composition, integrating social networks with team interventions to reduce ostracism in the military, and developing unobtrusive measures of team processes and emergent states.
