Biography

Dalia Abdelhady is an Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer in Sociology at Lund University, with a focus on migration studies and postcolonial theory. Her research investigates how immigrant communities navigate institutional frameworks in their new environments, including schools, labor markets, and media representations. By integrating postcolonial perspectives into the sociology of migration, she draws attention to the structural constraints and individual agency experienced by immigrants. Abdelhady is actively engaged in comparative research on the interactions between immigrant communities and their host societies, aiming to contribute to academic and policy discussions related to migration and integration. Her work is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and she explores various themes such as immigration, sociology of education, globalization, labor markets, and discrimination. She employs qualitative methods within her research, and she is affiliated with several collaborative projects that expand the understanding of immigrant integration in Sweden.
